About

Patron Saint of the Youth

Born in Turin in 1901, he was an engineering student who loved spending time with friends, hiking, skiing, and enjoying life. Yet amid these ordinary activities, he maintained a deep commitment to prayer, the Eucharist, and service to others. Rather than separating his faith from his daily life, he allowed it to shape everything he did.

What makes Pier Giorgio especially inspiring is his generosity and courage. Though he came from a wealthy family, he quietly devoted himself to helping the poor, often giving away his own money and time to those in need. He showed that holiness is not reserved for priests or religious but is possible for ordinary young people seeking to follow Christ. His joyful spirit, strong friendships, and dedication to both faith and service continue to make him a model for devout young adults today.

About 518 Frassati

Inspired by the example of St. Pier Giorgio Frassati, 518 Frassati is a young adult ministry within the St Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, NY. Our mission is to help likeminded young adults grow in faith, friendship, and service. We host a weekly Bible study, where members gather to explore Sacred Scripture, deepen their understanding of the faith, and encourage one another in their spiritual lives.

518 Frassati seeks to put faith into action through volunteer opportunities and service projects throughout the Capital Region. We also host social gatherings and recreational events that foster fellowship and lasting friendships. Whether through prayer, service, or simply sharing life together, 518 Frassati strives to create a welcoming community where young adults can encounter Christ and support one another on the journey of faith.
